So I ended up not renting a car and they drove me back with a shuttle to the airport to take a camioneta. No fees applied. But anyway, a classical trap or scam. If I rent with Hertz in the US, no insurance is needed and the confirmation mail was the same.

Ventajas: Even though I reluctantly paid for the extra insurance despite having coverage through the credit card, the whole experience was easy and pleasant and I Perro't really complain. Everyone we dealt with was exceptional.

It will be the last. They would not release the car to us without us purchasing their collision insurance. We even called our credit card company and had a Spanish speaking agent talk to the manager. His response to us was that he was short of cars and might not rent to us at all. It was Christmas week, very busy, otherwise we'd have tried another company. Our final cost was over $500 for 6 days in a subcompact car.

Desventajas: The Budget counter was unattended and we were routed to Hertz. We ended up starting from a new reservation, which took an eternity to complete, while being under constant pressure by the agent to buy additional items, such Figura a fast-lane drop off of the car because, in the words of the Hertz employee, people wait up to 45 min during peak time (obviously this proved to be false, Vencedor we dropped off the car with zero wait time.)

Desventajas: The rental was bait and switch. That never had the car we booked and scammed us for additional insurance that cost more than the rental! We declined and walked away. Had to get a shuttle back to the airport and get a taxi. Lost over 4 hours of precious vacation time.

Ventajas: National was great! The sales rep was really nice and honest which is rare for a car rental place.

. There was no option to cancel since there were no more cars and no more companies (it was Dec 30th!!)... so the only option was to buy their own insurance.. which was frustrated and get me really mad

Desventajas: The ag ncy upon arrival decided not to honor our booking and offer us either to do a new booking 30 usd more than what was initially confirmed or they would not give us the car.

Then when you think you are getting your car you get someone who tries to convince you to go to a timeshare to get your car paid in full. It was stressful but we had a nice trip and the car worked demodé to be a good car. We didn't do the timeshare from past experience so it cost us near $300 which is a fair deal.

Ventajas: The Cancun terminal is very frenetic, but the representative walked us thru the chaos calmly, over to the outdoor desk to pick up our car.
